Our company is named after the Greek god Hermes (Mercury for the Romans), whose main work involved being the herald and messenger of the gods. Hermes was also responsible for many other things: he was considered the god of science, eloquence, shrewdness, trade and interpreting. These are all attributes that could apply to translators, especially the last one.
The name Hermes reminds us of the word hermeneutics, which is of Greek origin and means ‘the art of interpreting texts to determine their true meaning, especially sacred texts’.
